To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using ground beef, cook until patties reach minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes per side.

  • If using ground turkey, cook until patties reach minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes per side.

  1. 1

    Roast the Fries

Cut potatoes into ¼"-thick fries and pat dry.

Place fries on prepared baking sheet and toss with 4 tsp. olive oil and a pinch of pepper. Spread into a single layer.

Roast in hot oven until lightly browned, 25-30 minutes, tossing fries halfway through.

Carefully remove from oven. Add piri piri seasoning and stir to combine. Sheet will be hot! Use a utensil.

    While fries roast, continue recipe.

  2. 2

    Make the Chili

Drain and rinse black beans in a wire-mesh strainer.

Place a small non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add bacon and 2 tsp. olive oil to hot pan. Stir occasionally until bacon has slightly browned, 1-2 minutes.

Add tomatoes, black beans, chile and cumin rub, smoked paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer.

Once simmering, reduce heat to medium-low. Stir occasionally until thickened, 8-10 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    While chili cooks, continue recipe.

  3. 3

    Toast the Buns

Spray cut side of buns with cooking spray.

Place a medium non-stick pan over medium-high heat.

Cooking in batches if necessary, add buns, cut side down, to hot, dry pan. Cook until lightly browned, 1-2 minutes.

Remove from burner. Transfer buns to a plate. Wipe pan clean and reserve.

  4. 4

    Cook Burgers and Finish Dish

Form ground pork into four equally-sized patties, about 5" in diameter. Season both sides with garlic salt and a pinch of pepper.

Return pan used to toast buns to medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

Add patties to hot pan. Cook until lightly charred and patties reach a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes per side.

Remove from burner. Top patties with cheese. Cover and let melt, 2-3 minutes.

Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping bottom bun with patty, chili, and top bun. Bon appétit!
