Before You Cook

Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using diced chicken, pat dry and season with 1/4 tsp. salt and a pinch of pepper. Follow same instructions as ground beef in Step 2, omitting the 1/4 tsp. salt and pinch of pepper and stirring occasionally until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes.

  • If using shrimp, pat dry and season with 1/4 tsp. salt and a pinch of pepper. In Step 4, add shrimp to hot pan and cook undisturbed until seared on one side, 2-3 minutes. Flip, and cook until shrimp reaches a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees, 1-2 minutes.

  • If using bacon, line a plate with a paper towel. Place a medium non-stick pan over medium heat and add bacon to hot pan. Flip occasionally until crisp, 6-8 minutes. Transfer to towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Halve tomatoes.

    Trim and thinly slice green onions on an angle. Keep white and green portions separate.

    Start the Skillet

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and generously coat with cooking spray.

    Add ground beef, seasoning blend, white portions of green onions, tomatoes, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

    Drain fat from pan, if desired.

    Finish the Skillet

    Add cream to hot pan and bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, stir occasionally until slightly thickened, 2-3 minutes.

    Add cheese and stir until melted, 30-60 seconds.

    Stir in pasta and 1/4 tsp. salt. Cook until warmed through, 1-2 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    Finish the Dish
