Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Cook the Rice and Beans

    Drain and rinse beans in a wire-mesh strainer.

    In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine rice, 11/4 cups water, black beans, and garlic salt. Microwave uncovered, 4 minutes.

    Carefully remove rice from microwave and stir. Microwave again uncovered, 2 minutes.

    Carefully remove rice from microwave. Rest, 3 minutes.

    While rice heats, continue recipe.

    Cook the Beef

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add 2 tsp. olive oil, ground beef and taco seasoning to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    While beef cooks, continue recipe.

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Hold romaine heart at root end and chop coarsely.

    Core tomato and cut into 1/4" dice.

    Heat Tortillas and Finish Dish

    Wrap tortillas in a damp paper towel and microwave until warm, 30-60 seconds.

    If tortillas come folded, keep folded.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, filling tortillas with ground beef and topping with cheese, romaine, tomatoes, and sour cream. Bon appétit!
