Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F
Customize It Instructions

If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

If using Italian sausage, follow same instructions.

1 Prepare the Bell Pepper
Remove stem, seeds, and ribs, and cut bell pepper into 1/4" dice (or coarsely chop).

2 Cook the Bell Peppers
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.
Add bell peppers and a pinch of salt and pepper to hot pan. Stir occasionally until tender, 6-8 minutes. -
3 Add the Beef
Add ground beef to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.
Drain any excess liquid. Pan will be hot! Use caution. -
4 Add the Sauces and Cheese
Add BBQ sauce, garlic pepper, tomato sauce, and a pinch of salt and pepper to hot pan. Stir often until combined, 1-2 minutes.
Evenly top beef mixture with cheese. Cover and cook until cheese is melted, 60-90 seconds.Remove from burner.While beef mixture cooks, continue recipe. -
5 Heat Rolls and Finish Dish
Heat rolls to your preference using a toaster or microwave.
Alternatively, place a large non-stick pan over medium heat and add rolls, cut-side down, to hot, dry pan. Toast until lightly browned, 1-2 minutes.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, filling roll with beef mixture. Bon appétit!
