Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

1 Cook the Pork
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.
Add ground pork, garlic salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and pork reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 5-7 minutes. -
2 Add the Sauce
Add tomatoes, BBQ sauce, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/3 cup water to hot pan. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
Once simmering, stir often until sauce is slightly thickened, 2-3 minutes.If too thick, add additional water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.Remove from burner.While pork mixture cooks, continue recipe. -
3 Heat the Corn
Place corn in a microwave-safe bowl.
Microwave uncovered until heated through, 3-4 minutes.Carefully remove from microwave. Stir in softened butter, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper until combined. Set aside. -
4 Heat Rolls, Assemble Slaw, and Finish Dish
Heat rolls to your preference using a toaster or microwave.
Alternatively, add rolls to hot, dry pan, cut-side down, and toast until lightly browned, 1-2 minutes.In a mixing bowl, combine slaw mix, dressing, and a pinch of salt.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping bottom roll with pork mixture, cheese, crispy onions, then top roll. Make dinnertime fun! With supervision, have your kid(s) help assemble the sloppy joes. Bon appétit!
