Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F

1 Cook the Vegetables
Place a large pot over medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.
Add leeks, carrots, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper to hot pot. Stir occasionally until slightly tender, 3-5 minutes. -
2 Add the Ground Beef
Add ground beef to hot pot. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.
Carefully drain any excess liquid. Pot will be hot! Use caution. -
3 Add the Beans and Broth
Drain and rinse beans in a colander/strainer.
Add tomato puree to hot pot. Stir occasionally until combined.Add fire roasted tomatoes, chicken base, beans, garlic salt, Italian seasoning, 1/4 tsp. pepper, and 8 cups water. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. -
4 Add Orzo and Finish Dish
Once simmering, add orzo to hot pot. Stir occasionally until orzo is tender, 13-15 minutes.
Remove from burner. Stir in pesto until combined.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping soup with cheese. Bon appétit!
