Before You Cook

Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Roast the Fries

    Cut potatoes into 1/4"-thick fries and pat dry.

    Place fries on prepared baking sheet and toss with 1 Tbsp. olive oil, garlic pepper, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper. Spread into a single layer.

    Roast in hot oven until lightly browned, 25-30 minutes, tossing once halfway through.

    Carefully remove fries from oven and toss with 1 tsp. rosemary (prepared in a later step). Baking sheet will be hot! Use a utensil.

    While fries roast, continue recipe.

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Stem and mince rosemary.

    Halve and peel onion. Slice halves into thin strips.

    Form ground beef into two equally-sized patties, about 5" in diameter. Season both sides with a pinch of salt and pepper.

    Caramelize the Onions

    Place a medium non-stick pan over medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

    Add onions and a pinch of salt to hot pan. Stir occasionally until softened and browned, 10-12 minutes.

    Add sugar and wine. Bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, stir occasionally until wine is almost entirely evaporated, 1-2 minutes.

    If pan becomes dry, add water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, as needed.

    Remove from burner.

    While onions caramelize, continue recipe.

    Toast the Buns

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.

    Add buns, cut-side down, to hot pan. Toast until lightly browned, 1-2 minutes.

    Transfer buns to a plate. Keep pan over medium heat.

    Cook Patties and Finish Dish

    Add 1 tsp. olive oil and patties to hot pan. Cook until browned and patties reach a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes per side.

    Remove from burner. Top patties evenly with cheese (to taste). Cover until melted, 1-2 minutes.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping bottom bun with onions, patty, arugula, and top bun. Bon appétit!
