Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using diced chicken breasts, pat dry. Stir occasionally until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes.

    Cook the Steak Strips

    Pat steak strips dry. Coarsely chop, then separate pieces. Season all over with garlic pepper, mushroom seasoning, and 1/4 tsp. salt.

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

    Add steak strips to hot pan. Stir occasionally until no pink remains and steak strips reach a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

    Remove from burner. Rest, 3 minutes.

    While steak strips cook, continue recipe.

    Cook the Vegetables

    Thinly slice mushrooms.

    Place another large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

    Add carrot & celery blend and 1/4 cup water to hot pan. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, cover and cook until water is almost completely evaporated, 3-5 minutes.

    Uncover and add mushrooms. Stir occasionally until vegetables are tender, 3-5 minutes.

    Add the Sauce and Steak Strips

    Add flour and 1/3 the butter (reserve remaining for mashed potatoes) to hot pan. Stir often until no dry flour remains.

    Add demi-glace, onion salt, garlic and parsley seasoning, 3/4 cup water, and a pinch of pepper. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, stir occasionally until sauce is slightly thickened, 1-2 minutes.

    Add steak strips and stir occasionally until coated, 1-2 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    Heat Mashed Potatoes and Finish Dish

    In a microwave-safe bowl, combine mashed potatoes and a pinch of salt. Vigorously stir to combine.

    Microwave uncovered until heated through, 2-3 minutes.

    Carefully remove from microwave. Add remaining butter and vigorously stir to combine.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping mashed potatoes with steak strip mixture. Bon appétit!
