Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

  • If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

    Cook the Sausage and Leeks

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.

    Add Italian sausage, leeks, and red pepper flakes (use less if spice-averse) to hot pan. Kids not a fan of extra heat? Feel free to skip/reduce the red pepper flakes.

    Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    While sausage and leeks cook, continue recipe.

    Cook the Broccoli

    Place another large non-stick pan over medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

    Add broccoli, a pinch of salt, and 1/4 cup water to hot pan. Cover and cook until water is almost completely evaporated, 4-6 minutes.

    Uncover and stir occasionally until broccoli is tender, 2-3 minutes.

    Add the Pasta and Peas

    Add pasta, peas, and a pinch of salt to hot pan. Stir occasionally until pasta and peas are heated through, 60-90 seconds.

    Add Sauce and Sausage and Finish Dish

    Add cream base, grated cheese, cream cheese, 1/4 cup water, 1/4 tsp. salt, a pinch of pepper, and lemon juice to hot pan. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, stir occasionally until sauce is slightly thickened, 1-2 minutes.

    If too thick, add additional water, 1 tsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

    Stir in sausage until coated and heated through, 60-90 seconds.

    Remove from burner.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping pasta with shredded cheese. Bon appétit!
