Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using shrimp, pat dry. Cook until pink and shrimp reach minimum internal temperature, 2-3 minutes per side.

    Cook the Orzo

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.

    Add minced garlic and lemon basil to hot pan. Stir occasionally until garlic is fragrant, 30-60 seconds.

    Add 3 1/2 cups water, chicken base, cream base, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, add orzo and stir often until water is almost completely evaporated and orzo is slightly tender, 10-12 minutes.

    While orzo cooks, continue recipe.

    Make the Bacon Crunch

    Coarsely crush crackers.

    Place another large non-stick pan over medium heat.

    Add bacon and crackers to hot, dry pan. Stir occasionally until browned, 2-3 minutes.

    Transfer bacon crunch to a plate. Wipe pan clean and keep over medium heat.

    Cook the Chicken

    Pat chicken dry. Season all over with lemon n herb seasoning and a pinch of salt and pepper.

    Add 2 tsp. olive oil and chicken to hot pan. Stir occasionally until golden-brown and chicken reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees, 5-7 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    Add Chicken and Finish Dish

    Add chicken, peas, a pinch of salt, and 3/4 the cheese (reserve remaining for garnish) to hot pan with orzo. Stir occasionally until combined and cheese is melted, 1-2 minutes.

    Remove from burner.
