Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • Meatlovers! If using protein, cook in a medium non-stick pan over medium heat with 1 tsp. olive oil.

  • If using antibiotic free chicken, pat dry. Cook until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes per side.

  • If using top round steak, pat dry. Steak coloration may vary upon arrival due to packaging processes; steak quality and flavor will not be impacted. Cook until steak reaches desired doneness, or 3-5 minutes per side for medium/medium-well. Rest, 3 minutes. Steak thickness can vary; if you receive a thinner steak, we recommend checking for doneness sooner.

  • Add protein to meal as desired.

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Core tomato and cut into 1/4" dice.

Trim and thinly slice green onions, keeping white and green portions separate.

  2. 2

    Make the Corn Fritter Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine tempura mix, garlic pepper, a pinch of salt, cornstarch, shredded cheese, white portions of green onions, half the green portions of green onions (reserve remaining for garnish), corn, and 1/4 cup water.

Stir until a thick batter forms, like a pancake batter. If too thick, add additional cold water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until the consistency is reached.

  3. 3

    Cook the Corn Fritters

Line a plate with a paper towel.

Place a medium non-stick pan over medium heat and add 1/2 cup neutral oil.

Test oil temperature by adding a pinch of corn fritter batter to it. It should sizzle gently. If it browns immediately, turn heat down and let oil cool. If it doesn't brown, increase heat.

Add two 1/4 cups corn fritter batter to hot oil, spacing 1" apart. Spread into an even circle roughly 2" wide. Pan will be hot! Use a utensil.

Cook until golden-brown and cooked through, 2-3 minutes per side.

Remove from burner. Transfer corn fritters to towel-lined plate.

While corn fritters cook, continue recipe.

  4. 4

    Make the Goat Cheese Crema

In another mixing bowl, combine goat cheese, softened cream cheese, 1 Tbsp. water, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Set aside.

If too thick, add additional water, 1 tsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

  5. 5

    Assemble Salad and Finish Dish

In another mixing bowl, combine tomatoes, spring mix, balsamic vinaigrette (to taste), and a pinch of salt and pepper.

Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping corn fritters with goat cheese crema. Garnish with remaining green portions of green onions. Bon appétit!
