Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

  • If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

    Prepare Broccoli and Make Crispy Onion Panko

    Cut broccoli into bite-sized pieces.

    Combine panko and 1 tsp. olive oil on a microwave-safe plate. Spread into an even layer.

    Microwave until golden-brown and toasted, 60-90 seconds, stirring once halfway through.

    Carefully remove from microwave and transfer panko to a heat-safe mixing bowl.

    Add crispy onions to bowl and stir to combine. Set aside.

    Cook the Broccoli

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

    Add broccoli, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 2 Tbsp. water to hot pan. Cover and cook until water is almost completely evaporated, 4-6 minutes.

    Uncover and stir occasionally until broccoli is tender, 2-3 minutes.

    Transfer to a plate. Wipe pan clean and keep over medium heat. Pan will be hot! Use caution.

    Cook Sausage and Make Sauce

    Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary.

    Add 2 tsp. olive oil and sausage to hot pan. Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

    Add minced garlic and parsley and red pepper flakes (to taste). Stir occasionally until garlic is fragrant, 1-2 minutes.

    Add cream base, 1/2 cup water, 1/4 tsp. salt, and cheese. Stir occasionally until combined and sauce is slightly thickened, 3-4 minutes.

    If too thick, add additional water, 1 tsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

    Add Pasta and Broccoli and Finish Dish

    Add broccoli and pasta to hot pan. Stir occasionally until pasta is heated through, 2-3 minutes.

    Stir in lemon juice until combined, 20-30 seconds.

    Remove from burner.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping pasta with crispy onion panko. Bon appétit!
