Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Prepare Ingredients, Crisp Bacon, and Toast Buns

    Quarter apple and remove core. Cut into 1/4" slices.

    In a mixing bowl, combine apple, vinegar, and a pinch of pepper. Set aside.

    Line a plate with a paper towel.

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add bacon to hot, dry pan and stir occasionally until bacon is crispy, 2-3 minutes.

    Remove from burner. Transfer bacon to towel-lined plate. Wipe pan clean and reserve.

    Return pan used to crisp bacon to medium heat and add buns, cut-side down, to hot, dry pan. Toast until lightly browned, 2-3 minutes.

    Remove from burner. Transfer to a plate. Reserve pan; no need to wipe clean.

    Form the Patties

    In another mixing bowl, combine ground beef, onion salt, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Form mixture into 4 evenly-sized patties, about 5" in diameter.

    Cook the Patties

    Return pan used to toast buns to medium-high heat. Add patties to hot, dry pan. Cook until lightly charred and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes per side.

    Top patties with cheese and let melt.

    Remove from burner.

    Finish the Dish

    In another mixing bowl, combine brown sugar and ketchup.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping bottom bun with patty, brown sugar-ketchup, arugula, apples, bacon, and top bun. Bon appétit!
