Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F
Customize It Instructions

If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

1 Cook the Vegetables
Place a large pot over medium-high heat and add 1 Tbsp. olive oil.
Add carrots, onions, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper to hot pot. Stir often until vegetables are slightly browned, 4-6 minutes. -
2 Add the Sausage
Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary.
Add sausage to hot pot. Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.Drain any excess liquid from pot. Pot will be hot! Use caution. -
3 Add the Spinach and Flour
Add spinach and garlic salt to hot pot. Stir occasionally until combined and spinach is wilted, 1-2 minutes.
Add flour and stir until no dry flour remains. -
4 Add Broth and Orzo and Finish Dish
Add tomatoes, vegetable base, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 4 cups water to hot pot. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
Once simmering, add orzo and stir occasionally until heated through, 2-3 minutes.Remove from burner.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping soup with croutons and cheese. Bon appétit!
