Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Trim and thinly slice green onions, keeping white and green portions separate.

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.

    Add white portions of green onions to hot pan and stir occasionally until slightly softened, 1-3 minutes.

    While green onions cook, pat salmon dry. Season flesh side with blackening seasoning and potato spice seasoning.

    Remove white portions of green onions from burner. Transfer to a heat-safe mixing bowl and set aside. Let cool, 5 minutes.

    Wipe pan clean and keep over medium heat.

    Cook the Salmon

    Add 2 tsp. olive oil to hot pan.

    Working in batches if necessary, add salmon, skin-side up. Sear until golden-brown and salmon reaches a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees, 3-4 minutes per side.

    Remove from burner.

    While salmon cooks, continue recipe.

    Heat the Mashed Potatoes

    Place mashed potatoes, cream cheese, shredded cheese, and 1/4 tsp. salt in a microwave-safe bowl. Vigorously stir to combine.

    Microwave uncovered until heated through, 2-3 minutes.

    Carefully remove from microwave and vigorously stir to combine. Set aside.

    While mashed potatoes microwave, continue recipe.

    Make Butter Topping and Finish Dish

    After 5 minutes, or once cool enough to handle, stir softened butter and mustard (to taste) into bowl with white portions of green onions until combined. Set aside.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping salmon with butter topping. Garnish mashed potatoes with green portions of green onions. Bon appétit!
