Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

    Prepare Ingredients and Toast Breadcrumbs

    Core tomatoes and cut into 1/2" dice.

    Cut broccoli into bite-sized pieces.

    Line a plate with a paper towel.

    Place a large oven-safe non-stick pan over medium heat. Add half the butter (reserve remaining for pasta), panko, and a pinch of salt to hot pan. Stir often until panko is golden-brown and toasted, 2-3 minutes.

    Transfer panko to towel-lined plate. Wipe pan clean and keep over medium heat.

    Cook the Broccoli

    Add 1 tsp. olive oil to hot pan used to toast panko.

    Add broccoli and 1/4 cup water. Cover and cook until water is almost completely evaporated, 4-6 minutes.

    Add the Sauce and Pasta

    Uncover broccoli and add tomatoes, cream base, pesto, Parmesan, remaining butter, and garlic salt to hot pan. Stir often until combined and bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, add pasta and stir occasionally until heated through and sauce has thickened, 3-4 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    Broil Pasta and Finish Dish

    Evenly top pasta with mozzarella. Transfer to hot oven and broil until cheese is melted and browned, 4-5 minutes.

    Carefully remove from broiler. Pan handle will be hot! Use oven mitts. Don't text and broil! Keep an eye on oven as cheese may burn easily under broiler.
