Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F

If using diced chicken breasts, pat dry. Stir occasionally until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes.

If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

1 Cook the Pasta
Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 10-12 minutes.
Remove from burner. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta cooking water. Drain pasta in a colander/strainer and set aside. Wipe pot clean and reserve.While pasta cooks, continue recipe. -
2 Prepare the Ingredients
Core tomato and cut into 1/4" dice.
Remove stem, seeds, and ribs, and cut bell pepper into 1/2" dice. -
3 Cook the Ground Turkey
Return pot used to cook pasta to medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.
Add ground turkey and bell peppers to hot pot. Break up meat until no pink remains and turkey reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees, 7-9 minutes.Drain any excess liquid from pot, if desired. Pot will be hot! Use caution. Add flour, garlic and parsley seasoning, 1/4 tsp. pepper, and half the onion salt (reserve remaining for sauce). Stir often until combined and no dry flour remains. -
4 Add the Sauce
Add pesto, cream base, tomatoes, 1/4 cup reserved pasta cooking water, and remaining onion salt to hot pot.
Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. -
5 Add Pasta and Finish Dish
Once simmering, stir occasionally until sauce is slightly thickened, 1-2 minutes.
If too thick, add additional reserved pasta cooking water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.Add pasta to hot pot and stir occasionally until coated and heated through, 1-2 minutes.Remove from burner.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping pasta with shredded cheese.
