Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using ground pork, add meatballs to hot pan and cook until pork reaches minimum internal temperature, 10-15 minutes.

  • If using ground turkey, add meatballs to hot pan and cook until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 11-13 minutes.

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Stem mushrooms and cut caps into 1/4” slices.

    Peel, trim, and halve carrot lengthwise. Slice into 1/4" half-moons.

    Trim and thinly slice green onions on an angle, keeping white and green portions separate.

    Form the Meatballs

    In a mixing bowl, combine panko and 2 Tbsp. water. Let sit, 1 minute.

    After 1 minute, add ground beef, pot roast seasoning, and 1/4 tsp. salt. Thoroughly combine and form mixture into 16 equally-sized meatballs.

    Start the Meatballs

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil. Add meatballs to hot pan and roll occasionally until browned all over, 4-5 minutes.

    Meatballs will finish cooking in a later step.

    Transfer meatballs to a plate. Keep pan over medium heat.

    Make Stew and Finish Meatballs

    Add 1 tsp. olive oil, mushrooms, carrots, and white portions of green onions to hot pan. Stir occasionally until vegetables are tender and lightly browned, 6-8 minutes.

    Stir in tomato puree, mirepoix base, 1 cup water, and 1/4 tsp. salt until combined. Bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, add meatballs. Cover and cook until meatballs reach a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 6-8 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    While stew cooks, continue recipe.

    Make Rice and Finish Dish

    Carefully massage rice in shipping bag to break up any clumps. Remove rice from packaging. Place rice in a microwave-safe bowl with 2 Tbsp. water, garlic and parsley seasoning, and 1/2 tsp. salt. Cover with a damp paper towel.

    Microwave covered until warm, 2-3 minutes.

    Carefully remove from microwave. Fluff rice with a fork.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping rice with meatballs and stew and garnishing with green portions of green onions. Bon appétit!
