Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F

If using ground pork, add meatballs to hot pan and cook until pork reaches minimum internal temperature, 10-15 minutes.

If using ground turkey, add meatballs to hot pan and cook until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 11-13 minutes.

1 Prepare the Ingredients
Stem mushrooms and cut caps into 1/4” slices.
Peel, trim, and halve carrot lengthwise. Slice into 1/4" half-moons.Trim and thinly slice green onions on an angle, keeping white and green portions separate. -
2 Form the Meatballs
In a mixing bowl, combine panko and 2 Tbsp. water. Let sit, 1 minute.
After 1 minute, add ground beef, pot roast seasoning, and 1/4 tsp. salt. Thoroughly combine and form mixture into 16 equally-sized meatballs. -
3 Start the Meatballs
Place a large non-stick pan over medium heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil. Add meatballs to hot pan and roll occasionally until browned all over, 4-5 minutes.
Meatballs will finish cooking in a later step.Transfer meatballs to a plate. Keep pan over medium heat. -
4 Make Stew and Finish Meatballs
Add 1 tsp. olive oil, mushrooms, carrots, and white portions of green onions to hot pan. Stir occasionally until vegetables are tender and lightly browned, 6-8 minutes.
Stir in tomato puree, mirepoix base, 1 cup water, and 1/4 tsp. salt until combined. Bring to a simmer.Once simmering, add meatballs. Cover and cook until meatballs reach a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 6-8 minutes.Remove from burner.While stew cooks, continue recipe. -
5 Make Rice and Finish Dish
Carefully massage rice in shipping bag to break up any clumps. Remove rice from packaging. Place rice in a microwave-safe bowl with 2 Tbsp. water, garlic and parsley seasoning, and 1/2 tsp. salt. Cover with a damp paper towel.
Microwave covered until warm, 2-3 minutes.Carefully remove from microwave. Fluff rice with a fork.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping rice with meatballs and stew and garnishing with green portions of green onions. Bon appétit!
