Before You Cook
Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F
Customize It Instructions

If using diced chicken breasts, pat dry. Stir occasionally until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes.

If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

1 Cook the Pasta
Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 8-10 minutes.
Remove from burner. Reserve 1 cup pasta cooking water. Drain pasta in a colander/strainer and set aside.Wipe pot clean and reserve.While pasta cooks, continue recipe. -
2 Prepare the Ingredients
Cut mushrooms into 1/4" slices.
Trim and thinly slice green onions, keeping white and green portions separate.Halve and peel white onion. Cut halves into 1/4" dice.Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary. -
3 Cook the Sausage
Return pot used to cook pasta to medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.
Add Italian sausage and white onions to hot pot. Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.Add mushrooms and white portions of green onions. Stir occasionally until mushrooms are slightly tender, 2-3 minutes. -
4 Add the Sauce
Add butter and 2 tsp. olive oil to hot pot. Stir occasionally until butter is melted, 1-2 minutes.
Add flour and stir often until no dry flour remains.Add 1/2 cup reserved pasta cooking water. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. -
5 Add Pasta and Finish Dish
Once simmering, add cream base, mozzarella, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper. Stir occasionally until combined and sauce is slightly thickened, 2-3 minutes.
Add pasta and stir occasionally until heated through, 2-3 minutes.Remove from burner.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping pasta with Parmesan and crispy onions. Garnish with green portions of green onions. Bon appétit!
