Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F
  1. 1

    Start the Sausage and Peppers

Turn oven on to 425 degrees. Let preheat, at least 10 minutes. Remove all produce from any packaging or constraints, then thoroughly rinse and pat dry. Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary.

Evenly divide diced peppers, 2 tsp. olive oil, and 1/4 tsp. salt between both provided trays. Stir to combine. Break sausage into bite-size pieces. Top diced peppers with sausage in an even layer.

Bake uncovered in hot oven, 10 minutes.

Sausage will finish cooking in a later step.

  2. 2

    Add the Rice and Sauce

Carefully remove trays from oven. Drain any excess liquid. Trays will be hot! Use a utensil.

Carefully massage rice in bag to break up any clumps. Remove rice from packaging. Evenly divide rice, tomato sauce, chimichurri seasoning, 1/2 tsp. salt, butter, and vegetable base between both trays and stir to combine. Top both trays evenly with cheese.

  3. 3

    Bake the Meal

Bake both trays again uncovered in hot oven until sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 15-18 minutes.

Carefully remove trays from oven. Bon appétit!
