  1. 1

    Start the Chili

Place a large pot over medium heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.

Add onions, ground beef, and 1/4 tsp. salt to hot pot. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

Drain any excess liquid from pot. Pot will be hot! Use caution.

  4. 4

    Finish the Chili

Add beans, lentils, tomatoes, mushroom base, and 1 1/2 cups water. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

Once simmering, stir occasionally until chili is slightly thickened, 10-12 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    While chili cooks, continue recipe.

  5. 5

    Make Crema and Finish Dish

Kids not a fan of extra heat? Feel free to skip/reduce the pesto.
