Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F

If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

1 Prepare the Ingredients
Drain and rinse beans in a colander/strainer.
Hold romaine heart at root end and thinly slice.Remove stem, seeds, and ribs, and cut bell pepper into 1/4" dice. Alternatively, reserve half the raw bell peppers for snacking/serving on the side.Pat steak strips dry. Coarsely chop, then separate pieces. -
2 Cook the Bell Peppers and Beans
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 1 Tbsp. olive oil.
Add bell peppers to hot pan. Stir occasionally until tender, 6-8 minutes.Add beans, half the taco seasoning (reserve remaining for steak strips), and half the salsa (reserve remaining for burritos). Kids not a fan of extra heat? Feel free to skip/reduce the salsa. Stir occasionally until combined, 1-2 minutes.Remove from burner.While bell peppers and beans cook, continue recipe. -
3 Cook the Steak Strips
Place another large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.
Add steak strips and remaining taco seasoning to hot pan. Stir occasionally until no pink remains and steak strips reach a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees, 4-6 minutes.Remove from burner. Rest, 3 minutes.While steak strips cook, continue recipe. -
4 Heat Tortillas and Finish Dish
Wrap tortillas in a damp paper towel. If tortillas come folded, keep folded.
Microwave until heated through, 30-60 seconds.Carefully remove from microwave.Evenly fill tortillas with bell pepper-bean mixture, steak strips, cheese, romaine, sour cream, and remaining salsa (to taste). Kids not a fan of extra heat? Feel free to skip/reduce the salsa.Fold sides of tortilla toward center, then roll bottom edge towards the top, enclosing sides tightly. Make dinnertime fun! With supervision, have your kid(s) help assemble the burritos.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, halving burrito, if desired. Bon appétit!
