Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

- Ground Turkey 165° F |

If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

1 Start the Soup
Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary.
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.Add Italian sausage, onions, carrots, and 1/4 tsp. salt to hot pan. Break up sausage into smaller pieces and stir occasionally until slightly browned, 4-6 minutes.Sausage will finish cooking in a later step. -
2 Add the Beans and Broth
Drain and rinse beans in a colander/strainer.
Add beans, tomato sauce, chicken base, 3 cups water, and Italian seasoning to hot pan. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.Once simmering, stir occasionally until vegetables are tender, 3-4 minutes. -
3 Finish the Soup
Add couscous and spinach to hot pan. Stir occasionally until spinach is wilted and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 6-8 minutes.
Remove from burner. Stir in half the cheese (reserve remaining for garnish) and softened butter until combined. -
4 Finish the Dish
Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping soup with remaining cheese. Garnish with croutons. Bon appétit!
