Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using diced chicken breasts, pat dry. Stir occasionally until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes.

  • If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes. 

  • If using shrimp, pat dry. Cook until pink and shrimp reach minimum internal temperature, 2-3 minutes per side.

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Coarsely chop peanuts.

    Reserve 2 Tbsp. pineapple juice. Drain pineapples in a colander/strainer. Kids want to help? With supervision, have them help prepare the pineapples.

    Trim and thinly slice green onions on an angle, keeping white and green portions separate.

    Cook the Ground Beef

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat.

    Add ground beef to hot, dry pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

    Drain any excess liquid, if desired. Pan will be hot! Use caution.

    Stir in garlic salt and a pinch of pepper until combined, 1-2 minutes.

    Add the Sauce and Pineapples

    Add garlic sesame sauce, reserved pineapple juice, brown sugar, 1/4 tsp. salt, and pineapples to hot pan. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, remove from burner.

    While beef mixture cooks, continue recipe.

    Heat Rice and Finish Dish

    Carefully massage rice in bag to break up any clumps and remove from packaging. 

    In a microwave-safe bowl, combine rice, edamame, white portions of green onions, 1 Tbsp. salted butter, and 1/4 tsp. salt. Kids want to help? With supervision, have them help prepare the rice.

    Microwave uncovered until rice is heated through, 2-3 minutes.

    Carefully remove from microwave. Rest, 2 minutes.

    Stir to combine and fluff rice with a fork.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping rice with beef mixture. Garnish with peanuts and green portions of green onions. Bon appétit!
