Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

1 Prepare the Ingredients
Stem basil. Stack half the leaves, roll into a long cylinder, and slice lengthwise to create very thin strips, leaving remaining leaves whole.
Thinly slice garlic. -
2 Cook the Peppers and Pork
Place a large non-stick pan over medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil. Add ground pork, garlic, mixed peppers, garlic salt, 1/4 tsp. pepper, and 1/4 tsp. salt to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and pork reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 6-8 minutes.

3 Add the Sauce and Pasta
Add peas, whole basil, cream base, tomato sauce, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/4 cup water to hot pan. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
Once simmering, stir occasionally until peas are heated through, 2-3 minutes.Remove and discard whole basil leaves. Pan will be hot! Use a utensil.Add pasta and stir occasionally until heated through, 3-4 minutes.Remove from burner. -
4 Toast Garlic Cheese Bread and Finish Dish
Open and separate rolls. Evenly spread softened butter on cut side of rolls. Evenly top with cheese. Get the kids involved! With supervision, have them help prepare the rolls.
Place rolls, cut side up, on prepared baking sheet.Place under hot broiler and broil until lightly browned, 3-4 minutes.Don't text and broil! Keep an eye on oven as rolls may burn easily under broiler.Carefully remove from broiler.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping pasta with sliced basil. Bon appétit!
