1 Start the Turkey Mixture
Place ground turkey in prepared casserole dish, breaking up into bite-sized pieces. Spread into an even layer. Evenly top with 3/4 tsp. salt, 3/4 tsp. pepper, and 1 Tbsp. olive oil.
Bake uncovered in hot oven until turkey reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees, 15-20 minutes.While turkey bakes, continue recipe. -
2 Finish the Turkey Mixture
Drain and rinse beans in a colander/strainer.
Kids not a fan of extra heat? Feel free to skip/reduce the salsa. In a mixing bowl, combine beans, taco seasoning, salsa (to taste), tomato sauce, and 1/3 cup water. Set aside.After 15-20 minutes, carefully remove dish from oven and drain any excess liquid. Stir in bean mixture until combined, breaking up turkey into smaller bite-sized pieces. Wipe bowl clean and reserve. Casserole dish will be hot! Use a utensil. Cover dish with foil.Bake again covered in hot oven until beans are heated through, 10-12 minutes.After 10-12 minutes, carefully remove from oven.While turkey mixture bakes, continue recipe. -
3 Heat Rice, Make Crema, and Finish Meal
Carefully massage rice in bag to break up any clumps and remove from packaging.
Kids not a fan of extra heat? Feel free to skip/reduce the piri piri seasoning. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine rice, 2 Tbsp. butter, piri piri seasoning (to taste), and 1/4 tsp. salt. Microwave uncovered until heated through, 3-4 minutes.Carefully remove from microwave. Rest, 2 minutes. Fluff rice with a fork.While rice microwaves, halve lime.In reserved mixing bowl, combine sour cream and 2 tsp. water.To serve, top rice with turkey mixture and garnish with crema, tortilla strips, and cheese. Squeeze lime halves over to taste. Bon appétit!
