Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

1 Par-Cook the Vegetables
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine carrot and celery blend and 2 tsp. water. Cover with a damp paper towel.
Microwave covered until vegetables are slightly tender, 3-5 minutes.Carefully remove from microwave. -
2 Start the Pork Mixture
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.
Add ground pork and carrot and celery blend to hot pan. Wipe bowl clean and reserve.Break up meat until no pink remains and pork reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 6-8 minutes.Drain any excess liquid. Pan will be hot! Use caution. -
3 Finish the Pork Mixture
Add tomato puree and flour to hot pan. Stir often until no dry flour remains.
Add 1 3/4 cups water, beef base, peas, savory seasoning, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.Once simmering, stir often until sauce is slightly thickened, 2-3 minutes.If too thick, add additional water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.While pork mixture cooks, continue recipe. -
4 Heat the Mashed Potatoes
In reserved microwave-safe bowl, combine mashed potatoes, cream cheese, and a pinch of salt. Stir vigorously to combine. Cover with a damp paper towel.
Microwave covered until heated through, 3-4 minutes.Carefully remove from microwave. Stir in butter until melted and combined. -
5 Top Pork Mixture and Finish Dish
Evenly top pork mixture in hot pan with mashed potatoes, then with shredded cheese. Cover and cook until cheese is melted, 3-4 minutes.
