Before You Cook
Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F
Customize It Instructions

If using diced chicken breasts, pat dry. Stir occasionally until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes.

If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

1 Cook the Sausage
Place a medium pot over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.
Add sausage to hot pot. Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.Transfer sausage to a plate. Keep pot over medium-high heat; no need to wipe clean. -
2 Cook the Vegetables
Add 2 tsp. olive oil, carrot & celery blend, and 1/4 tsp. salt to hot pot.
Stir occasionally until vegetables are slightly tender, 3-5 minutes. -
3 Add the Tomatoes
Add tomatoes and tomato puree to hot pot.
Stir occasionally until combined, 1-2 minutes. -
4 Finish Soup and Finish Dish
Add sausage, lentils, garlic salt, mushroom base, 2 cups water, and couscous to hot pot. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
Once simmering, cover and stir occasionally until vegetables are tender, 3-5 minutes.Remove from burner.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping soup with cheese. Bon appétit!
