Keep pot over medium-high heat; no need to wipe clean. -
3 Cook the Soup
Add 1 tsp. olive oil, bell peppers, and onions to hot pot. Stir occasionally until tender, 6-8 minutes.
Add flour and stir until no dry flour remains. Add sausage, cream base, 1 cup water, half the Italian seasoning (reserve remaining for dippers), tomato sauce, and a pinch of pepper. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.Once simmering, stir occasionally until soup is slightly thickened, 5-7 minutes. If too thick, add additional water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.Remove from burner. While soup cooks, continue recipe. -
4 Assemble the Pepperoni Dippers
Halve roll lengthwise. Evenly spread 1 Tbsp. softened butter on cut-side.
Place rolls, cut-side up, on prepared baking sheet. Evenly top with remaining Italian seasoning, cheese, then pepperoni. -
5 Broil Pepperoni Dippers and Finish Dish
Broil under hot broiler until cheese is melted and roll halves are slightly browned, 3-4 minutes.
