Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F

If using ground beef, break up meat until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

If using ground pork, break up meat until pork reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

If using ground turkey, break up meat until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 7-9 minutes.

If using Impossible burger, break up until burger reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

1 Start the Bell Peppers
Remove stem and halve bell peppers lengthwise. Remove seeds and ribs.
Season bell peppers all over with 1/4 tsp. salt. Place on prepared baking sheet, cut-side down, and spray with cooking spray.Roast in hot oven until tender, 16-18 minutes.While bell peppers roast, continue recipe. -
2 Prepare the Ingredients
Stem mushrooms and cut into 1/4” dice.
Trim zucchini ends, quarter lengthwise, and cut into 1/4" pieces.Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary. -
3 Start the Filling
Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.
Add Italian sausage to hot pan. Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes. -
4 Finish the Filling
Add zucchini, mushrooms, and a pinch of salt to hot pan. Stir occasionally until starting to brown, 5-7 minutes.
Add flour and stir until no dry flour remains. Stir in 3/4 cup water and marinara. Bring to a simmer.Once simmering, stir occasionally until sauce is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, 2-3 minutes.Remove from burner. Add Italian cheese blend. Stir until combined. -
5 Finish Peppers and Finish Dish
Carefully remove baking sheet from oven. Flip peppers cut-side up. Peppers will be hot! Use a utensil. Distribute filling evenly among pepper halves and top with mozzarella. There may be extra filling.
Roast in hot oven until heated through and cheese is melted, 6-8 minutes.Carefully remove from oven.Plate dish as pictured on front of card. Bon appétit!
