Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F
  1. 1

    Cook the Beef

Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, 2 tsp. olive oil, and taco seasoning to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes. Drain fat from pan and transfer ground beef to a plate. Reserve pan; no need to wipe clean. While ground beef cooks, prepare ingredients.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ingredients

Core tomato and cut into ½" dice. Combine slaw mix and dressing in a mixing bowl. Set aside. Combine diced jalapeños and rice vinegar in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high, 30 seconds. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Cook the Vegetables

Return pan used to cook ground beef to medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil. Add corn and tomatoes to hot pan and stir occasionally until warmed through, 1-2 minutes. Stir in cheese sauce and 1 Tbsp. water. Bring to a simmer. Once simmering, remove from burner.

  4. 4

Warm Tortillas and Finish the Dish

Wrap tortillas in a damp paper towel and microwave until warm, 30-60 seconds. Plate dish as pictured on front of card, filling tortillas with ground beef, vegetables, ranch slaw, and pickled jalapeños (to taste). Bon appétit!
