Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

  • If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

    Cook the Pork

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

    Add ground pork, onions, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and pork reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 5-7 minutes.

    Add minced garlic and parsley and stir often until fragrant, 30-60 seconds.

    Add the Sauce and Pasta

    Add marinara, 1/3 cup water, garlic salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper to hot pan. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, stir often until sauce is slightly thickened, 2-3 minutes.

    If sauce is too thick, add additional water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

    Add Sicilian sauce (to taste), cheese, and pasta. Stir occasionally until combined and heated through, 1-2 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    Toast the Bacon Breadcrumbs

    Line a plate with a paper towel. Place a small non-stick pan over medium heat.

    Add bacon to hot, dry pan and stir occasionally until crispy, 1-2 minutes.

    Add panko and stir constantly until golden-brown and toasted, 30-60 seconds.

    Remove from burner. Transfer to towel-lined plate.

    Finish the Dish
