Sweet and sour flavors lands on tongue is such a yin and yang perfection, a namaste balance, the culinary version of a tree pose. The classic sauces coats the pork meatballs, with hints of soy, ginger, and garlic in the pork, with such lip-smacking goodness. These babies are topped with peanuts and sesame seeds, for further balance and perfection. Just don't try doing a downward dog after eating these!

Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using 20 oz. ground pork, follow same instructions as 10 oz. ground pork, forming 16 meatballs and working in batches, if necessary.

  • If using ground beef, follow same instructions as ground pork in Steps 2 and 3, rolling occasionally until browned, 2-4 minutes, adding sauce, covering, and cooking until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 8-10 minutes.

  • If using ground turkey, follow same instructions as ground pork in Steps 2 and 3, rolling occasionally until browned, 2-4 minutes, adding sauce, covering, and cooking until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 9-11 minutes.

  • If using Impossible burger, follow same instructions as ground pork in Steps 2 and 3, rolling occasionally until browned, 2-4 minutes, adding sauce, covering, and cooking until burger is heated through, 8-10 minutes.

    Cook the Green Beans

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil. Add onion, green beans, and a pinch of salt to hot pan. Stir often, 3 minutes.

    Add 1/4 cup water, cover, and cook until tender, 6-8 minutes.

    Remove cover, add half the ginger (reserve remaining for meatballs), 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper, and stir often, 2 minutes.

    If green beans need more time, add 2 Tbsp. water and stir occasionally, 1-3 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    While green beans cook, continue recipe.

    Form the Meatballs

    In a mixing bowl, combine panko and 2 Tbsp. water. Let sit, 1 minute.

    After 1 minute, add ground pork, garlic salt, remaining ginger, and half the soy sauce (reserve remaining for sauce). Stir to combine. Form mixture into eight evenly-sized meatballs.

    Cook the Meatballs

    Place a medium non-stick pan over medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

    Add meatballs to hot pan and roll occasionally until browned all over, 2-4 minutes.

    Add sweet and sour sauce, 1 Tbsp. water, and remaining soy sauce. Cover and cook until meatballs reach a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    Finish the Dish

    Gently crush peanuts in shipping bag.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, garnishing green beans with peanuts and topping meatballs with sesame seeds. Bon appetit!
