To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using ground turkey, cook until patties reach minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes per side.

  1. 1

    Roast the Fries

Cut potatoes into 1/4" fries and pat dry.

Place fries on prepared baking sheet and toss with 2 tsp. olive oil and a pinch of salt and pepper. Spread into a single layer.

Roast in hot oven until slightly browned, 25-30 minutes, tossing fries halfway through.

Carefully remove from oven. Evenly top fries with plain cheddar cheese and bacon.

Roast again in hot oven until cheese is melted and bacon is crisp, 3-5 minutes.

    Carefully remove from oven.

    While fries roast, continue recipe.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Ingredients

Place a large non-stick pan over medium heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil. Add buns, cut-side down, to hot pan. Toast until slightly browned, 1-2 minutes.

Remove from burner. Transfer buns to a plate. Wipe pan clean and reserve.

    While buns toast, mince chives.

Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into 1/4" slices.

In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, half the mushroom base (reserve remaining for sauce), and a pinch of salt and pepper. Form meat mixture into two equally-sized patties, about 5" across.

  3. 3

    Caramelize the Onions

Place onions in a microwave-safe bowl and cover with a damp paper towel.

Microwave covered until tender, 4-5 minutes.

    Carefully remove from microwave.

Place a medium non-stick pan over medium heat and add 1 Tbsp. olive oil. Add microwaved onions and a pinch of salt to hot pan. Stir occasionally until slightly browned and caramelized, 5-7 minutes.

If pan is dry, add water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, as needed.

Remove from burner. Transfer onions to another plate. Wipe pan clean and reserve.

    While onions caramelize, continue recipe.

  4. 4

    Cook the Patties

Return pan used to toast buns to medium-high heat.

Add patties to hot, dry pan. Cook until slightly charred and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes per side.

Evenly top with white cheddar cheese and cover until melted, 1-2 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

  5. 5

    Make Sauce and Finish Dish

Return pan used to caramelize onions to medium-low heat.

Add black pepper sauce (to taste), remaining mushroom base, butter, and 1 Tbsp. water to hot pan. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, remove from burner.

Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping bottom bun with caramelized onions, patty, sauce (to taste), then top bun. Garnish fries with chives and sour cream. Bon appétit!
