Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using ground beef, add to a medium non-stick pan over medium heat. Break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

  • If using ground turkey, add to a medium non-stick pan with 2 tsp. olive oil over medium heat. Break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes

  • If using steak strips, pat dry, coarsely chop, then separate pieces. Add steak strips to a medium non-stick pan with 2 tsp. olive oil over medium heat. Stir occasionally until steak reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes. Rest, 3 minutes.

    Start the Sausage and Peppers

    Spray provided tray with cooking spray.

    Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary.

    Add sausage and mixed peppers to prepared tray, breaking sausage into bite-sized pieces. Spread into an even layer and evenly top with 1 tsp. olive oil.

    Bake uncovered in hot oven, 10 minutes.

    Sausage will finish cooking in a later step.

    Carefully remove from oven.

    Add the Sauce and Pasta

    Stir in tomato sauce, creme fraiche, red pepper flakes (to taste), spinach, and pasta until combined. Tray will be hot! Use a utensil.

    Crisp Bacon and Finish Meal

    Bake uncovered in hot oven until pasta is heated through and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 8-10 minutes.

    While meal bakes, line a microwave-safe plate with a paper towel. Place bacon on towel-lined plate.

    Microwave until crispy, 60-90 seconds.

    Carefully remove from microwave.

    Carefully remove tray from oven.

    To serve, top pasta with cheese and bacon. Bon appétit!
