Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

Prepare the Ingredients
Break noodles into bite-sized pieces.
Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into 1/4" dice.Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary. -
Cook the Sausage
Line a plate with a paper towel.
Place a large pot over medium-high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil. Add Italian sausage to hot pot and break up into smaller pieces. Stir occasionally until golden and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.Remove from burner. Transfer sausage to towel-lined plate. Reserve pot; no need to wipe clean. -
Start the Soup
Return pot used to cook sausage to medium-high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil. Add onions, 1/4 tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper to hot pot. Stir occasionally until tender and browned, 3-5 minutes.
Add tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, chicken base, cream cheese, Italian sausage, and 3 cups water. Stir until combined. Bring to a simmer. -
Add the Noodles
Once simmering, add noodle pieces to hot pot and cook until al dente and soup has slightly thickened, 10-15 minutes.
Remove from burner.While soup simmers, continue recipe. -
Make Ricotta Topping and Finish Dish
In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, pesto, and half the Parmesan (reserve remaining for garnish).
Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping soup with ricotta topping and remaining Parmesan. Bon appétit!
