We all know the saying, “if you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen!” Well, one particular Home Chef customer sure can handle the heat! We present to you the first ever Customer Burger Showdown winner, the Jalapeño Popper Burger, created by Jessica Usher. This scorcher pops with flavor and heat featuring jalapeños two ways and a tangy chipotle mayo that will leave your taste buds sizzling for more.
Cut potatoes into ½" sticks.
Place potato sticks on prepared baking sheet and toss with 1 Tbsp. olive oil, seasoning rub, and ¼ tsp. salt. Massage oil into potatoes.
Spread into a single layer and bake until tender and browned, 18-20 minutes.
While fries bake, prepare ingredients.
Prepare the Ingredients
Stem jalapeño, halve, and mince. Remove seeds and ribs for less spice. Wash hands and cutting board after working with jalapeño.
Mince cilantro (no need to stem).
Make the Patties
In a mixing bowl, combine jalapeño (to taste), ground beef, half the cheese (reserve remaining for topping burgers), ¼ tsp. salt, and a pinch of pepper.
Form beef mixture into two patties, ½"-thick.
Toast Buns and Cook Burgers
Place a medium non-stick pan over medium heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil. Add buns to hot pan, cut side down, 1-2 minutes.
Remove buns from pan and keep pan over medium heat. Add patties to hot pan and cook until browned, 4-6 minutes.
Flip patties and cover. Cook until patties reach a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-5 minutes.
Top burgers with remaining cheese and cover until cheese is melted, 1-2 minutes.
Finish the Dish
Plate dish as pictured on front of card, smearing chipotle mayonnaise on bottom bun and topping with burger, crispy jalapeño pieces (to taste), and cilantro. Top with top bun. Bon appétit!
