Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F

If using diced chicken breasts, pat dry. Stir occasionally until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes.

If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

If using steak strips, pat dry, coarsely chop, then separate pieces. Stir occasionally until steak reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes. Rest, 3 minutes.

1 Cook Pasta and Prepare Ingredients
Once water is boiling, add pasta to hot pan. Cook until al dente, 10-12 minutes.
Remove from burner. Reserve 1 cup pasta cooking water. Drain pasta in a colander/strainer and set aside. Wipe pan clean and reserve.While pasta cooks, remove stem, seeds, and ribs, and cut bell peppers into 3/4'' dice.Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into 1/2'' dice.Coarsely tear sliced cheese. -
2 Cook the Vegetables
Return pan used to cook pasta to medium-high heat and add 1 Tbsp. olive oil.
Add bell peppers, onions, garlic salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper to hot pan. Stir occasionally until tender, 8-10 minutes.Transfer vegetables to plate and keep pan over medium-high heat; no need to wipe clean. -
3 Cook the Ground Beef
Add ground beef, garlic pepper, and a pinch of salt to hot pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.
Drain any excess liquid, if desired. -
4 Add the Sauce
Add cream base, beef base, half the pasta cooking water (reserve remaining for adjusting), 1/4 tsp. salt, and sliced cheese (to taste) to hot pan.
Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. -
5 Add Pasta and Cheese and Finish Dish
Once simmering, add pasta and vegetables to hot pan. Stir often until pasta is heated through and sauce is slightly thickened, 2-3 minutes.
If too thick, add remaining pasta cooking water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.Evenly top pasta with shredded cheese. Cover and cook until cheese is melted, 1-2 minutes.Remove form burner.Plate dish as pictured on front of card. Bon appétit!
