Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |

- Ground Turkey 165° F |

If using diced chicken breasts, pat dry. Stir occasionally until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

If using steak strips, pat dry, coarsely chop, then separate pieces. Stir occasionally until steak reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes. Rest, 3 minutes.

1 Cook the Pasta
Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 8-10 minutes.
Remove from burner. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta cooking water. Drain pasta in a colander/strainer and set aside. Wipe pot clean and reserve.While pasta cooks, continue recipe. -
2 Prepare the Ingredients
Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into 1/4" dice.
Mince garlic. -
3 Cook the Turkey Mixture
Return pot used to cook pasta to medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.
Add ground turkey, onions, and 1/4 tsp. salt to hot pot. Break up meat until no pink remains and turkey reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees, 7-9 minutes.Add garlic, tomato puree, and half the softened butter (reserve remaining for garlic bread). Stir often until combined and garlic is fragrant, 1-2 minutes. -
4 Add the Sauce and Pasta
Add tomato sauce, 3/4 the Italian seasoning (reserve remaining for garlic bread), garlic salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper to hot pot. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
Once simmering, add pasta and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir often until pasta is heated through and sauce is slightly thickened, 1-2 minutes.If too thick, add reserved pasta cooking water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.Remove from burner. -
5 Broil Garlic Bread and Finish Dish
Separate rolls and halve diagonally. Evenly spread remaining softened butter on cut-sides of rolls.
Place rolls on prepared baking sheet and evenly top with Italian seasoning, then shredded cheese.Broil under hot broiler until butter melts and cheese starts to brown, 1-2 minutes.Don't text and broil! Keep an eye on oven as garlic bread may burn easily under broiler.Carefully remove from oven.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping pasta with grated cheese. Bon appétit!
