Before You Cook

Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • Meatlovers! If using protein, cook in a medium non-stick pan over medium heat with 1 tsp. olive oil.

  • If using antibiotic free chicken, pat dry. Cook until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes per side.

  • If using filets mignon or sirloin steaks, pat dry. Cook until steak reaches desired doneness, or 4-6 minutes per side for medium/medium-well. Rest, 3 minutes. Steak thickness can vary; if you receive a thinner steak, we recommend checking for doneness sooner.

  • Add protein to meal as desired.

    Cook the Pasta

    Once water is boiling, add pasta and cook until al dente, 11-13 minutes.

    Remove from burner. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta cooking water. Drain pasta in a colander/strainer and set aside.

    While pasta cooks, continue recipe.

    Prepare Ingredients and Make Crema

    Finely crush crispy onions.

    Cut mushrooms into 1/4" slices.

    Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into 1/4" dice.

    Mince garlic.

    In a mixing bowl, combine creme fraiche, 1/4 the buttermilk-dill seasoning (reserve remaining for pasta), and 2 tsp. water. Set aside.

    Cook the Vegetables

    Place a medium oven-safe non-stick pan over medium heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

    Add onions to hot pan and stir occasionally until slightly browned, 10-12 minutes.

    If pan becomes dry, add water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, as needed.

    Add mushrooms and garlic. Stir occasionally until browned and tender, 4-6 minutes.

    Add the Sauce and Pasta

    Add mushroom base, cream base, remaining buttermilk-dill seasoning, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. pepper to hot pan. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

    Once simmering, add pasta and half the cheese (reserve remaining for topping). Stir occasionally until pasta is heated through, 1-2 minutes.

    If too thick, add reserved pasta cooking water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

    Remove from burner.

    Broil Pasta and Finish Dish

    Evenly top pasta with crispy onions and remaining cheese.

    Broil under hot broiler until cheese is melted and slightly browned, 1-2 minutes.

    Don't text and broil! Keep an eye on oven as cheese and crispy onions may burn easily under broiler.

    Carefully remove from oven. Pan handle will be hot! Use an oven mitt.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping pasta with crema. Bon appétit!
