Before You Cook

Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using steak strips, pat dry, coarsely chop, then separate pieces. Stir occasionally until steak reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes. Rest, 3 minutes.

    Cook the Rice

    Bring a small pot with rice, 1 1/4 cups water, and garlic salt to a boil.

    Once boiling, reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook until rice is tender, 15-18 minutes.

    Remove from burner. Set aside and cover to keep warm.

    While rice cooks, continue recipe.

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Peel and trim cucumber, halve lengthwise, then cut into 1/4” half-moons.

    Remove stem, seeds, and ribs, and cut bell pepper into 1" dice.

    Halve lime and juice.

    Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into 1" dice.

    Pat sliced pork dry. Coarsely chop, then separate pieces. Season all over with a pinch of salt and pepper.

    Cook the Vegetables

    Place a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.

    Add onions and bell peppers to hot pan. Stir occasionally until slightly tender and browned, 5-7 minutes.

    Add the Pork and Sauce

    Add pork to hot pan. Stir occasionally until browned and pork reaches a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees, 5-7 minutes.

    Reduce heat to low. Stir in black pepper sauce (to taste) and 1 tsp. lime juice (reserve 1 tsp. for cucumber salad) until combined, 1-2 minutes.

    Remove from burner. Rest, 3 minutes.

    While pork mixture cooks, continue recipe.

    Assemble Cucumber Salad and Finish Dish

    In a mixing bowl, combine cucumbers, sesame seeds, sambal (to taste), 1 tsp. reserved lime juice (to taste), and 1/4 tsp. salt.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping rice with pork mixture (to taste) and cucumber salad (to taste). Bon appétit!
