Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

  1. 1

Prepare Green Onions and Cook Beef

Trim and thinly slice green onions, keeping white and green portions separate.

Place a medium oven-safe pan over medium-high heat.

Add ground beef and white portions of green onions to hot, dry pan. Break up meat until no pink remains and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.

Drain any excess liquid from pan. Pan will be hot! Use a utensil/caution.

  2. 2

    Add the Beans and Sauce

Drain and rinse beans in a colander/strainer.

Add taco seasoning, chili powder (to taste), tomatoes, beans, beef base, and 2 Tbsp. water to hot pan. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

Once simmering, stir occasionally until beans are heated through, 2-3 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

    While chili cooks, continue recipe.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Biscuits

Place biscuits in a mixing bowl and crumble into bite-sized pieces.

Toss with 1 tsp. olive oil until coated.

  4. 4

    Broil Chili and Finish Dish

Evenly top chili with cheese, then biscuit pieces.

Broil under hot broiler until cheese is melted and biscuit pieces are golden-brown, 1-2 minutes.

Don't text and broil! Keep an eye on oven as cheese and biscuit peices may burn easily under broiler.

Carefully remove from broiler. Pan handle will be hot! Use an oven mitt.

Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping chili with sour cream and green portions of green onions. Bon appétit!
