Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

Customize It Instructions

  • If using diced chicken thighs, pat dry. Cook in a medium non-stick pan with 2 tsp. olive oil over medium heat until chicken reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-7 minutes. Don't worry about trimming. Excess fat will render while cooking and add flavor.

  • If using shrimp, pat dry. Cook in a medium non-stick pan with 2 tsp. olive oil over medium heat until pink and shrimp reach minimum internal temperature, 2-3 minutes per side.

    Make the Batter and Panko Mixture

    In a mixing bowl, combine tempura mix, 1/4 cup water, garlic salt, and garlic pepper. Stir until a pancake-like batter forms. If too thick, add additional water, 1 Tbsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

    Combine panko, grated Parmesan, and a pinch of pepper on a plate. Spread into an even layer.

    Bread the Chicken

    Pat chicken dry.

    Transfer chicken to bowl with tempura batter and mix gently to evenly coat chicken.

    Working in batches, place chicken onto plate with panko mixture, pressing gently to adhere all over. Rest, 3 minutes.

    Cook the Chicken

    Place chicken in air fryer basket in an even layer and generously spray with cooking spray.

    Air fry at 380 degrees until panko is crisp and chicken reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees, 12-15 minutes, flipping and spraying with cooking spray again halfway through.

    Carefully remove from air fryer.

    Alternatively, add 3 Tbsp. olive oil and chicken to a medium non-stick pan. Flip occasionally until golden-brown and chicken reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees, 5-7 minutes. Remove from burner.

    While chicken cooks, continue recipe.

    Assemble Salad and Finish Dish

    Hold romaine heart at root end and chop coarsely.

    Quarter tomatoes. If you receive one whole tomato instead, not to worry; simply core tomato, cut into 1/2" dice, and proceed with recipe instructions.

    In another mixing bowl, combine romaine, tomatoes, half the dressing (reserve remaining for topping), and a pinch of pepper. Toss to coat.

    Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping salad with chicken nuggets, shredded Parmesan, remaining dressing, and a pinch of pepper. Bon appétit!
