Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Prepare the Ingredients

    Trim and thinly slice green onions, keeping white and green portions separate. Peel, trim, and cut carrot into ¼" rounds. Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into ¼" dice. Cut broccoli into bite-sized pieces. Halve lemon and juice. Pat chicken dry.

    Star the Meal

    Line slow cooker with slow cooker bag, if desired. If using an electric pressure cooker, fold top edges in before putting on lid. Add 3 cups water, white portions of green onions, carrot, onion, broccoli, chicken and chicken base to slow cooker. Turn slow cooker on to high heat. Cover, and cook until chicken reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees, 3 hours.

    Add the Rice

    After three hours, carefully shred chicken in slow cooker. Stir in rice. Cover again and cook, 1 hour.

    Finish the Dish

    Stir cream cheese and 1 Tbsp. lemon juice into cooked meal until combined. Coarsely crush crackers. Plate dish as pictured on front of card, garnishing with crackers and green portions of green onions. Bon appétit!
