Well, this sausage wasn't created in a lab, but this burger was created with maximum flavor in mind. Not only is there the slightly spicy delight of sausage, but a sweet and smoky relish with chipotle and peppers, and a nice slice of gooey cheese. Created in our test kitchen, just right for your plate.

Customize It Instructions

If using 16 oz. Italian sausage, follow same instructions as 8 oz. Italian sausage, forming four patties and stacking two to serve.

If using ground beef, follow same instructions as Italian sausage in Steps 2 and 4, cooking until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes per side.

If using ground pork, follow same instructions as Italian sausage in Steps 2 and 4, cooking until pork reaches minimum internal temperature, 5-6 minutes per side.

Bake the Fries
Cut potatoes into 1/2"-thick fries. Pat dry.
Place fries on prepared baking sheet and toss with 1 tsp. olive oil and 1/4 tsp. salt. Massage oil and salt into fries.Spread into a single layer. Bake in hot oven, 15 minutes.Carefully, remove baking sheet from oven. Flip fries and sprinkle with Parmesan. Bake again in hot oven until fries are golden-brown and tender, 10-15 minutes.While fries bake, prepare ingredients. -
Prepare the Ingredients
Stem, seed, remove ribs, and cut green bell pepper into 1/4" dice.
Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary. Form into two flat, evenly-sized patties, about 5" in diameter. -
Make the Pepper Relish
Place a medium non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.
Add green bell pepper to hot pan. Stir occasionally until fork-tender, 5-7 minutes.Remove from burner and stir in pesto (to taste) and balsamic glaze until combined. Transfer relish to a plate. Wipe pan clean and reserve. -
Cook the Patties
Return pan used to cook relish to medium-high heat and add 1 tsp. olive oil.
Add patties to hot pan and cook until golden-brown and patties reach a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 2-3 minutes per side.Remove from burner and top with sliced cheese. Cover until cheese is melted, 2-4 minutes.While cheese melts, toast buns. -
Toast Buns and Finish Dish
Place buns directly on oven rack in hot oven and toast until golden-brown, 1-2 minutes.
Carefully remove from oven.Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping bottom bun with patty, pepper relish, and top bun. Bon appétit!
