Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Make the Meatballs

    Turn oven on to 400 degrees. Let preheat, at least 10 minutes. Thoroughly rinse any fresh produce and pat dry.

    Set butter on counter to soften.

    Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary.

    In a mixing bowl, combine sausage, Italian seasoning blend, and Parmesan. Form mixture 16 equally-sized meatballs and divide equally between both provided trays.

    Add the Sauce

    Evenly divide pepper and onion mix, chopped garlic, marinara sauce, and red pepper flakes (use if less spice-averse) between both provided trays. Stir to combine.

    Cover both trays with foil.

    Bake and Assemble the Meal

    Bake both trays covered in hot oven until meatballs reach a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 20-25 minutes

    While meatballs bake, evenly spread softened butter on cut sides of French rolls.

    Place rolls, cut-side up, directly on rack in hot oven. Toast until golden-brown, 5-7 minutes.

    Carefully remove rolls and trays from oven.

    To serve, place 4 meatballs in each roll and top with vegetables and sauce from trays. Garnish with mozzarella. Bon appétit!
