Before You Cook
Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F
Customize It Instructions

If using ground beef, break up until beef reaches minimum internal temperature, 4-6 minutes.

If using ground turkey, break up until turkey reaches minimum internal temperature, 6-8 minutes.

1 Prepare the Ingredients
Break noodles into 1" pieces.
Halve and peel onion. Cut halves into 1/4" dice.Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary. -
2 Cook the Italian Sausage
Place a large pot over medium-high heat and add 2 tsp. olive oil.
Add Italian sausage to hot pot. Break into smaller pieces until no pink remains and sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes.Transfer sausage to a plate. Keep pot over medium-high heat; no need to wipe clean. -
3 Cook the Onions
Add 2 tsp. olive oil to hot pot.
Add onions and half the garlic salt (reserve remaining for ricotta). Stir occasionally until onions are tender and slightly browned, 6-8 minutes. -
4 Add the Broth and Noodles
Add tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, vegetable base, sausage, and 6 cups water to hot pot. Stir to combine and bring to a boil.
Once boiling, add noodles, spinach, and a pinch of salt. Cook until noodles are al dente and spinach is wilted, 6-8 minutes.Remove from burner.While soup cooks, continue recipe. -
5 Make Herbed Ricotta and Finish Dish
In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, remaining garlic salt, and lemon n herb seasoning.
Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping soup with herbed ricotta. Garnish with shredded cheese. Bon appétit!
