Before You Cook
Cooking Guidelines
To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:
- Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
- Seafood 145° F |
- Chicken 165° F |
- Ground Beef 160° F |
- Ground Turkey 165° F |
- Ground Pork 160° F

Start the Sausage and Peppers
Remove Italian sausage from casing, if necessary.
Place sausage in provided tray and break into bite-sized pieces. Add diced peppers and spread into an even layer. Evenly top with 1 tsp. olive oil.Bake uncovered in hot oven, 10 minutes.Sausage will finish cooking in a later step.Carefully remove from oven and drain any excess liquid. Break sausage into smaller pieces. -
Add the Rice
Carefully massage rice in bag to break up any clumps. Remove from packaging.
Stir rice, cream base, marinara, chicken base, a pinch of salt and pepper, and 1/4 cup water into tray with sausage until combined. Cover tray with foil. -
Bake the Meal
Bake covered in hot oven until sausage reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 20-25 minutes.
Carefully remove tray from oven. Stir in butter and half the cheese (reserve remaining for garnish) until combined. Tray will be hot! Use a utensil.If too thick, add additional water, 1 tsp. at a time, until desired consistency is reached.To serve, top risotto with remaining cheese. Bon appétit!
