Cooking Guidelines

To ensure food safety, the FDA recommends the following as minimum internal cooking temperatures:

  • Steak and Pork 145° F (rest cooked meat, 3 minutes) |
  • Seafood 145° F |
  • Chicken 165° F |
  • Ground Beef 160° F |
  • Ground Turkey 165° F |
  • Ground Pork 160° F

    Cook the Steak Strips

    Turn oven broiler on high. Let preheat, at least 10 minutes. Thoroughly rinse any fresh produce and pat dry.

    Separate steak strips into a single layer and pat dry.

    Add mushrooms, onion, 2 tsp. olive oil, and 1/4 tsp. salt to provided tray, then top with steak strips, tearing into bite-sized pieces if desired. Season with garlic salt and 2 tsp. olive oil.

    Broil uncovered under hot broiler until steak strips begin to caramelize, 6-8 minutes. Steak strips will finish cooking in a later step.

    Don't text and broil! Keep an eye on broiler as steak strips may burn easily under broiler.

    Add the Potatoes and Sauce

    Carefully remove tray from broiler and adjust oven temperature to 425 degrees.

    Top with potatoes and a pinch of salt.

    In a mixing bowl, combine demi-glace, Worcestershire sauce, wine, cornstarch, and 3/4 cup water. Pour over potatoes.

    Finish the Meal

    Bake uncovered in hot oven until stew has thickened enough to coat the back of a spoon and steak strips have reached a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees, 20-25 minutes.

    Remove from oven. Stir to combine. Rest, 3 minutes.

    Top with crispy onions. Bon appétit!
