A note about serious food allergies

I literally have hundreds of burger recipes- I wrote a whole book on them after all. This is a new one and it packs some serious flavor with a wink and a nudge to steakhouse flavors. My crispy oven fries are a fan favorite, too.

  1. 1

    Roast the Fries

Cut potatoes into 1/4" thick fries. Pat dry.

Place fries on prepared baking sheet and spray with cooking spray. Season with garlic salt and a pinch of pepper.

Spread into a single layer. Roast in hot oven until lightly browned, 25-30 minutes, tossing fries once halfway through.

    While fries roast, continue recipe.

  2. 2

    Prepare Ingredients and Make Patties

    Cut mushrooms into 1/4" slices.

Halve and peel onion. Slice halves into thin strips.

In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, a pinch of salt and pepper, steak seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce. Form mixture into two patties, about 5" in diameter.

  3. 3

    Cook the Onions and Mushrooms

Place a medium non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Add 1 tsp. olive oil, onions, and a pinch of salt and pepper to hot pan. Stir often until golden-brown and tender, 6-8 minutes.

Add mushrooms and stir occasionally until browned and tender, 4-6 minutes.

Add mustard and 2 Tbsp. water. Stir occasionally until slightly thickened, 1-2 minutes.

    Remove from burner.

While onions and mushrooms cook, continue recipe.

  4. 4

    Toast Buns and Cook Patties

Place another medium non-stick pan over medium-high heat.

Add buns, cut side down, to hot, dry pan. Toast buns until lightly browned, 2-3 minutes.

Remove buns to a plate. Keep pan over medium-high heat. Add 1 tsp. olive oil and patties to hot pan.

Cook until lightly charred and beef reaches a minimum internal temperature of 160 degrees, 4-6 minutes per side.

Remove from burner. Top with cheese. Cover and let melt.

  5. 5

    Finish the Dish

Plate dish as pictured on front of card, topping bottom bun with burger, mushroom-onion mixture, and top bun. Buon appetito!
